About me
Hello! I’m Dan Budgell, a proud resident of the Halifax Regional Municipality and a candidate for Councilor of District 15, which encompasses Lower Sackville, Beaver Bank, and Kinsac. I am deeply committed to our community and eager to bring fresh, proactive leadership to our local government.
For the past 3 years, I’ve been the owner and operator of Sackville Driving School, where I’ve had the pleasure of helping hundreds of individuals gain the skills and confidence they need to navigate our roads safely. My experience in this role has given me a unique perspective on the needs and challenges of our residents, from the importance of road safety to the value of accessible, community-oriented services.
Having lived and worked in this area for many years, I have developed a strong connection to our community and a deep understanding of the issues that matter most to us. My goal is to address these needs effectively, whether it's improving local infrastructure, enhancing public services, or fostering a more inclusive and vibrant community.
I’m passionate about ensuring that our district thrives and that every voice is heard. If elected, I will work tirelessly to represent your interests and advocate for positive change that benefits all residents of District 15. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community.

- Enhancing Pedestrian and Traffic Safety
Our community's safety is our top priority. I am committed to making our streets safer for everyone, whether you're walking, cycling, or driving. Here's how I plan to achieve this:- - Implementing Modern Traffic Calming Measures: I will introduce measures such as speed bumps, enhanced crosswalks, and better signage to ensure safe driving and pedestrian safety.
- - Improving Pedestrian Infrastructure: Investing in well-lit crosswalks, expanded sidewalks, and safe pedestrian zones will make it easier and safer for residents to walk around town.
- - Promoting Safe Cycling: I will develop dedicated bike lanes and bike-friendly routes to encourage cycling as a safe and healthy alternative to driving.
- - Regular Safety Audits: Conducting regular audits of traffic patterns and pedestrian safety will help us identify and address potential hazards promptly.
- Expanding Community Activities and Facilities
A vibrant community is an engaged community. To ensure there's something for everyone, I propose the following initiatives:- - Developing New Recreational Programs: I will work to introduce more recreational programs and events that cater to all age groups, including sports leagues, cultural events, and wellness activities.
